From BUST...
Melissa Huffsmith, veteran guitarist of such girl-powered groups as STP and The Friggs, has finally started up a project of her own, and it's about time. The Booty Olympics features Friggs band-mate Palmyra Delran on drums, along with Betsy Todd on bass.

With beautiful harmonies and melodies that could make even Aimee Mann cream her panties, the album boasts a hip, retro feel. The production -- much of it done by Melissa, aka Mitzi Dodge, and her husband Adam Roth -- is gorgeously full. It's a sound reminiscent of the Muffs, but with softer edges or Thee Headcoatees, but with sharper edges. All songs are written by Miss Mitzi herself, who has both a feel for the craft, as well as what's it's like to be a semi-dysfunctional woman of the 21st century. "Tell Me I'm Pretty/And compliment my clothes/But don't let's talk about anything" she sings on "Don't."

Boystyle is a great album for listening to on roadtrips: it'll make you happy and you won't be able to resist singing along. So if you thought the days of girl groups had passed, it's time to prove yourself wrong. Heed the booty call, and go get a copy of Boystyle. --Debbie Stoller
